DIY plant hangers (Pictorial)

Updated: Jul 7, 2020

Hello, and thanks for stopping by at House on Marigold! I wanted to do a remake to the pictorial on my Instagram as a way to kickstart this journey of recording the things I make. ❤️

LET’S GET STARTED! 🥳

Things you will need:

1. Hanging plant from Lowe’s garden center (mine was $12)

2. yarn or macrame cord

3. spray paint (if you want to paint the plastic pot🤷‍♀️ I painted mine white)

4. Painter‘s tape

STEP ONE. Cut 8 strands of yarn, about a foot longer than the length of the pot and plant (bottom to top).

tie them off at one end.

Spread the yarn out in an “X” pattern on the bottom of the pot. I use painter’s tape to hold down the yarn. (reference pic below 👇)

STEP 2

Tie knots in the string at the edge of the pot.

Pull one string from each knot away from its companion and tie it with the string that meets it. Make sure each row of knots is even so the planter will sit evenly. this will create a diamond pattern that will hold the planter like a basket.

You can continue with the pattern until you get to the top of the planter.

STEP 3

Turn the pot over careful not to tangle the string. Laying them straight out on the ground helps.

Put the plant back into the pot.

STEP 4

Grab all of the string and pull it straight up, make sure the pot hangs correctly.

And lastly, use the left over string to tie a loop to hang it from 💕🌿.

Thanks for following along! Please feel free to let me know what you think and subscribe if your in a subscriby mood ✌️😘.
